Facing failure after failure, Tom Dodge thinks his dream of becoming first in command will never come true. However, he finally is chosen, and gets to power a submarine vessel all on his own. As it turns out, the ship that the committee puts him in charge of is the only one of its kind, and it needs a lot of help. As he embarks on his first voyage, his crew is a clumsy menagerie of rejects that the admiral put together, in hopes of seeing Dodge fail. They find themselves competing for more than just victory when the higher ranking officers assign them to participating in a war game; success means something different for all of them, and they will do what it takes to claim victory. |
