Overview
All Freddy Shoop can think of is Hawaii with his girlfriend. As the school year draws to an end, Shoop's physical education class is ready to start summer. A group of so-called misfits, including a pregnant teen and a male stripper, must attend remedial English during summer school. After losing a teacher to a lottery win, the school's principal stalks the halls on the last school day. He find Shoop hiding from him and baits him with a tenured position if he remains in town to teach summer school. As Shoop accepts the job begrudgingly, he begins to learn about each teen's problems and aspirations. Both Shoop and the kids learn valuable lessons about life and society as the summer wears on in a hot classroom.
