Overview
New York City detective Billy Taggart has been found not-guilty in a murder trial thanks to the disappearance of condemning evidence. Although Billy is thankful that he does not have to serve prison time for killing a rapist, he decides to leave the police department as he is not a fan of corruption. Years later, Billy is working as a private detective struggling to keep his business afloat. Mayor Nicholas Hostetler asks that Billy spy on his wide whom Nicholas suggests is having an affair. Nicholas will pay well. However, Billy soon finds himself in trouble and he cannot help but wonder if Nicholas, who was behind his release from court almost a decade ago, has sent him up.
