Overview
Depressed and lonely Suzy Bishop finds a kindred spirit when she meets practical orphan Sam Shakusky. The two children make plans to run away from their unhappy lives together. Sam uses his wilderness skills to plan the trip, while Suzy is anxious to escape from her intolerable home life. As they trek to freedom across a thickly wooded island, they attempt to evade search parties sent to find them. Meanwhile, adult forces with greater power than their own are already mapping out their future.
