Overview
As he listens to the secret recordings that would ultimately be his downfall, President Richard Nixon reflects on his life, including his Quaker upbringing in California, his days as a football player and life-long fan of the game and his courtship of his wife, Pat. He considers the high points of his life - his highly charged campaign against Helen Gaghan Douglas, his selection by Dwight Eisenhower to serve as vice president and his amazing comeback to win two presidential elections after he had been written off - as well as the worst moments - defeat by John F. Kennedy, a man he would always hate and envy, and the Checkers speech that would be his worst moment until the day he was forced to resign the presidency.
