Overview
Prospera, the rightful duchess of Milan, loses her home and position due to the scheming of Antonio, her younger brother. With her daughter Miranda, she seeks sanctuary on a mysterious island. During her exile, Prospera's proficiency in the mystical arts grows, and she plans revenge against those who have wronged her. After 12 years of exile, Prospera learns that her brother is making a sea voyage, and she sees her chance for revenge. She summons a tempest to destroy the ship on which her brother is a passenger. The shipwreck strands the King of Naples, his son and Prospera's treacherous younger brother on the island. Using her control over spirits and the elements, Prospera begins her elaborate revenge scheme. Prospera's plans go awry, however, when her daughter Miranda falls in love with Ferdinand, the king's son.
