Overview
Following his narrow split decision victory over no-name challenger Rocky Balboa, world heavyweight boxing champion Apollo Creed contends with the boo-birds who criticize him for not beating Balboa more easily. As for Balboa, life after his once-in-a-lifetime title chance is not going well. He marries his sweetheart Adrian, but he's not cut out for the stardom of being a boxing celebrity. He flubs lines at commercial endorsement opportunities and deals with lingering eye issues from the fight. When Apollo Creed calls for a rematch to show the world once and for all who is the greatest boxer, Balboa sees his meager income sources and lack of potential as a non-boxer, and he decides to get back into the ring. This time he's eager to show the world that he's no fluke.
