Overview
Christopher "Skipper" Shelton and his wife, Dr. Alice Shelton, run a ship school known as the "Albatross." In 1960, they gather eight teenage boys from all walks of life to spend eight months sailing around the world with them. On the voyage, the young men learn about life, friendship and teamwork as they learn to sail and work as a ships' crew. There are thrills and highlights, as well as difficulties, as the journey continues, until one day a freak storm blows up that will test everything the teens have learned. When the ship sinks, the teens are left with little else than their wits, survival skills and the lessons they have learned at the hand of the Skipper to survive and find a way home.
