Overview
The Duchess follows the life of Georgianna Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire as she rises in the social ranks of the British aristocracy, navigating the political realm with an uncanny ability. Due to her fashion sense,beauty,and love of life,she becomes an icon to the common people. Her home life is much less idealic than her social life. Her husband, the older 5th Duke of Devonshire, William Cavendish, is known for his cold demeanor and his infidelity. His greatest betrayal, and the Duchesses' greatest challenge comes when he takes her best friend, Lady Bess Foster, as his lover. Despite the dual heartache, the Duchess retains her friendship with Lady Foster, remains a doting lover and must find her own peace and happiness as well.
