Overview
Laurel Sommersby believes herself to be a war widow, but after the end of the Civil War, her husband Jack returns to her. As she never liked him very much, she's not that thrilled to see him, but he has changed significantly since he left home. In fact, he has changed so much that she is no longer sure that he is who he claims to be. Laurel begins to fall in love with her husband to a degree that she never had before, but trouble ensues when Jack is placed on trial for murder. If he is indeed Jack Sommersby, then he will be executed, yet he continues to insist that he is the man that Laurel has come to believe he is not.
