Overview
Beth is quite hesitant when her husband "Moody," an Iranian doctor, wants to leave their home in America to visit his relatives in Iran. Reluctantly Beth agrees to a short visit with Moody and their daughter Mahtob, despite fears of visiting a place that is quite hostile to white women. When they arrive in Iran, Moody changes. He becomes abusive and mean, and he announces to Beth that they are going to live there forever. Beth's world is shattered, and she becomes determined to leave the country with Mahtob, which proves rather difficult. Enlisting the help of a friendingly Iranian, she takes off with Mahtob using some fake identities and endures the terror of a border crossing in order to make it safety in Turkey.
