Overview
Does a man choose sin or does the Devil choose him? New York rare books dealer Dean Corso cares about books, money and little else. Then a wealthy collector, Boris Balkan, asks him to go to Europe and authenticate three copies of a rare 17th-century book purportedly co-written by Lucifer called The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows. Balkan believes one is real and wants Corso to acquire it. Corso learns the original book should have nine woodcut prints inscribed with Lucifer's initials: LCF. As he unravels the mystery, he finds himself repeatedly in danger from a satanic cult that also wants the book. Each time, he is saved by a beautiful girl. Is she his guardian angel or something else entirely?
