Overview
Shutter Island is an experiment in complexity. The movie is presented as an investigation at the Shutter Island mental facility. The main character pursues a woman believed to have killed her two children. The supporting character role is an investigatory assistant in the search for the woman. The plot spirals forward as the main character discovers the facility is a mental asylum for the criminally insane and dark psychiatric practices used at the facility. He suffers from severe headaches and flashbacks of his military service during World War II and experiences at a Nazi concentration camp. He interviews several patients in an attempt to find the woman he's seeking.
