Benjamin Siegel, known as Bugsy, is a member of the mob. While in California, he falls for a woman named Virginia Hill, almost as cunning and cynical as he is. While Bugsy originally goes west to get control of some gambling establishments, he decides to get involved in the gambling world himself. In the end, he invests and loses a ton of money trying to start a casino and hotel in the Nevada desert. Bugsy ends up in trouble with the law and Virginia embezzles part of the money they’d invested in the casino. Both of them end up ruined, but the initial investment and the casino become the start of what would later be known as Las Vegas. |
