Overview
Progressive art professor Katherine Ann Watson accepts a position at the prestigious Wellesley College in the 1950s. She is a step ahead of the times, and this does not fit so well with the conservative environment of this women's college. In her classroom, she encourages her students not to see higher education as a means to marriage but to truly explore their potentials. Katherine inspires her students with her unusual ideas, but the school does not approve of her methods and message, and many of the young women still don't see eye to eye with her. In the midst of disappointments, she must decide whether it is worthwhile to try instilling her values in these old-fashioned students.
