Benjamin Purvis is a loner with a passion for writing science fiction. After meeting accomplished science fiction writer Ronald Chevalier at a two-day writing camp, Benjamin submits his story, “Yeast Lords,” with the encouragement of fellow camper Tabitha. Meanwhile, Tabitha’s friend and local film producer Lonnie Donaho sees the story and transforms it into a disastrous adaptation of Benjamin’s original story. Under pressure after his latest manuscript is rejected, Chevalier steals Benjamin’s story and makes drastic changes to the main character Bronco, named after Benjamin’s late father. Horrified over Donaho’s terrible adaptation of “Yeast Lords,” Benjamin finally discovers Chevalier’s plagiarized work and disastrously confronts the author – a confrontation that ends in handcuffs. Fortunately, Benjamin’s mother Judith helps him undo the damage and get his story on book shelves. |
