When a nightclub singer and waitress, Marina, loses her older boyfriend, Orlando, to a sudden illness on her birthday, she's reminded that the loving and amazing life they shared together had insulated her from those who loathe her very existence.
After Orlando's death, Marina finds herself suddenly at the center of an investigation. Her trans status automatically makes her suspicious in the eyes of many people. Orlando's family considers her abnormal. They even attempt to keep her from his funeral and out of the apartment.
