Overview
Alvy Singer is a neurotic New York comedian who falls for an equally neurotic ditz named Annie Hall. Their relationship endures many ups and downs, and he often goes into his head to create bizarre daydream sequences as an escape from a reality that disturbs him. He also jumps around in time, revisiting moments in a jumbled progression that makes sense to only him. The purpose of his mental meanderings is to deconstruct the central relationship of his life and figure out why the two of them fell in love, as well as why their love has faded so noticeably over time. Meanwhile, historical events of the 1970s unfold around the young lovers, and the Big Apple continues to teem with life and bustling activity.
