Overview
Joseph Donnelly is an angry young Irish man whose father has just been killed by a landowner's employee. The hot-headed young man is desperate to avenge his father's death and decides to attack Mr. Christie. However, he discovers that he is an inept murderer, in part because he rather likes the man, who is much kinder than his employee. In the process of his plot, Joseph meets the landowner's feisty daughter, who plans to run away to America. Joseph reluctantly joins her on her journey, which becomes much more complicated after the spoons she'd planned to sell in America are stolen and she is left penniless. They must stick together if they are to survive in this new country and gain land of their own.
