Overview
When the King of Botswana, Seretse Khama, falls in love with a London office worker, it sets in motion an international conflict of epic proportions. It is 1947 and South Africa has recently introduced Apartheid as a national law and does not like the idea of a bi-racial couple ruling a neighboring nation. South Africa threatens Great Britain's access to the country's uranium and gold mines in an attempt to stop the wedding they so fear and loathe. They also threaten to invade the smaller and poorer country if the marriage takes place and the couple continues to rule Botswana.
