In the 19th century, a kindly Yorkshire farmer named Earnshaw rescues a boy called Heathcliff from life on the streets and gives the boy a home at Wuthering Heights, the Eranshaw family's farm. Heathcliff develops a close relationship with Catherine, Earnshaw's headstrong daughter. Due to Earnshaw's love of Heathcliff, Catherine and Heathcliff's closeness and Heathcliff's difficult personality, however, mistrust and rivalry grow between Heathcliff and Earnshaw's son and heir. As Catherine and Heathcliff grow older, their feelings develop into an all-consuming passion while Heathcliff's rivalry with Catherine's brother escalates. Catherine's beauty also attracts the attention of the son of a wealthy neighbor. Soon, the young people must make choices that will determine their futures. |
