Overview
Jessie, a twelve-year-old street kid, is caught by the police when vandalizing a marina. His social worker is able to avoid charges by getting Jessie placed in a foster home and having him clean up the graffiti at the marina. While he is there, Jessie meets Willy, an uncooperative orca whale who had been caught in the wild. Jessie becomes friends with Willy’s keeper, and later Willy himself. When his probation is over, he earns a permanent job at the marina. As Jessie and Willy bond, Willy begins performing tricks for Jessie. The park owner sees this, and tries to make money off of the whale by having them perform together. When the orca gets spooked and refuses to perform, things don’t look good for Willy, and Jessie begins to make plans to help him escape back into the wild where his family is waiting.
