Overview
Katie arrives in the small resort town of Southport, North Carolina, clutching secrets and looking for a new life. Appearing friendly but guarded, she rents a cabin in the woods and wants to start over. She reluctantly begins a relationship with Alex, a charming young storeowner, and learns to trust him. Her life seems to be taking a new turn until her past catches up with her. Her police officer, alcoholic husband has been searching feverishly for her and finally arrives in Southport ready to inflict harm on Katie for leaving him. In the midst of a town 4th of July celebration, Tierney, her husband, finds her and desperately tries to make her pay. Alex comes to Katie's rescue and thwarts her husband's malevolent desires.
