Overview
When three young people turn up dead at Gorky Park, Soviet detective Arkady Renko begins to investigate. The mysterious deaths have completely obliterated the victims’ identities, and yet the KGB refuses to get involved. Renko begins to investigate on his own and discovers their identities. He also discovers that they were working for an American man named Osborne, helping him build a box that would enable him to illegally smuggle sables out of the country. With the help of a New York detective who is trying to trace his brother’s disappearance, Renko traces Osborne, only to find that the KGB has been in cahoots with him all along. They had hoped Renko’s independent investigation would compel Osborne to pay them a higher kick-back.
