Overview
Law & Order: Criminal Intent follows the Major Case Squad as the detectives investigate high-profile cases. It differs from the original Law & Order in that it only depicts the investigations of the crimes and not the subsequent court trials. It also devotes a great deal of time to the criminals. The viewers know from the beginning of each episode who has committed the crime. As the episode progresses, the criminals' and the detectives' scenes gradually start to overlap. Though other detective teams have been featured on the show, Robert Goren and Alex Eames are the pair that started and ended the series. Goren's quirky investigative style and vast esoteric knowledge complements Eames' pragmatism.
