Overview
An outside human resources company has been hired by a major Wall Street brokerage firm to come in and make massive unannounced layoffs. Eric Dale, one of the fired employees and head of risk management, tries to tell his former employer about the dangerous consequences of a project that he has been working on. The human resource firm has no interest in his story and just wants to get him out of the building. On his way out, Dale slips a USB drive to Peter Sullivan and tells him to be careful. Sullivan studies the file and discovers that the firm is holding a huge amount of toxic mortgage-backed securities. The upper management of the firm decides to deceitfully dump these securities to their customers in a fire sale, regardless of the damage to the market.
