Trailer | Overview Up-and-coming 1940s New York playwright Barton Fink is hired by a Hollywood studio to write a wrestling picture. Ensconced in the run-down Hotel Earle, Fink is plagued by writer's block. He befriends an amiable salesman in the room next door, Charlie Meadows. Later, Fink meets an alcoholic novelist, Bill Mayhew, who has also come to Hollywood to write scripts, and Mayhew's secretary Audrey. Fink sleeps with Audrey, but when he awakens, he finds she has been murdered. He gets Meadows to help him dispose of the body, but detectives arrive and tell him that Meadows is actually a serial killer named Karl Mundt. Mundt returns and burns down the hotel, and Fink's career is ruined by the studio's refusal to produce anything he writes. |
