Overview
A waitress, Agnes, meets a drifter, Peter, who claims that the government subjected him to biological experiments. When Agnes confides that she has received some anonymous phone calls that she believes were made by her ex-husband, Peter tells her that they were the same government agents who knew that he was on the way. He furthermore tells her that the hotel room they are in is under surveillance. He soon persuades Agnes to believe that microscopic bugs have been implanted in his body. The two grow increasingly paranoid, and when a doctor arrives and claims that Peter has escaped from a mental institution, they kill him. Their beliefs grow more bizarre until they set themselves on fire to foil the government's elaborate plans for them.
