Bobby Deerfield knows how to drive race cars, and lets everyone know it. As a struggling racer on the professional circuit, Bobby shows his skill everyday. Each racing competition fuels his ego, creating a beast in the process. Bobby meets Lillian Morelli, and becomes smitten with her. As his races become more fierce, Lillian's health slowly declines. She is terminally ill, forcing Bobby to look at his life, and hers, in a different way. The inertia of his racing is blocked when a death on the track makes mortality a real threat in his life. Between racing's perils and Lillian's declining health, Bobby must strike a balance between life and death. Coping with death on his own terms makes Bobby a different person, with Lillian's love leading the way. |
