Penelope is a rich young woman who has grown up in isolation because of a curse that has dogged her all of her life. She was born with the nose of a pig, and because of this, she is perceived as a freak, particularly by her mother. While her mother keeps her locked up and brings in suitors in hopes of finding the true love who will break the curse, Penelope yearns for freedom. One day, she decides to run away, and by wearing a scarf to conceal much of her face, she hides her nose from the world. She makes friends and forges a particularly interesting friendship with a young man who challenges her, but she still struggles to accept herself as she is. |
