Overview
Jose and Maria are immigrants who meet and marry in the United States. After facing deportation, the couple make a home in East Los Angeles and set about raising a family. Their children: Paco, Chucho, Irene, Memo, Toni, and Jimmy all come of age in a 1950's United States that includes racial clashes with police and the culture of youth. When their son Jimmy finds himself married to Isabel and a father to his son, Jimmy must make the journey to being a responsible parent in turbulent times.
