Overview
Cocky young Ernest Hemingway is delighted to be shipped off to Italy to help support the troops during World War I. His youthful enthusiasm soon wanes in the face of the grim realities of war when he is wounded by enemy fire. While convalescing in the hospital, he meets beautiful Red Cross nurse Agnes von Kurowsky. The doctors want to amputate his leg, but Agnes is determined to save it. Ernest falls deeply in love with his beautiful nurse, but her doubts about their relationship keep them apart.
