Enterprising news reporter Kimberly Wells is reporting on alternative energy at a nuclear power plant. While she is there, the power plant undergoes an emergency shutdown procedure. Her cameraman discovers that the incident almost replicated the infamous China Syndrome, in which the radioactive core went into a full meltdown and irradiated the area around the plant. Wells goes against plant supervision and her bosses in her quest to broadcast the truth but she finds herself in the midst of a dark and dangerous plot to keep the nuclear accident quiet.
