Overview
Newland Archer seems to have the perfect life. He's a well-paid lawyer at a prestigious law firm. His fiancee is the beautiful and sweet May Welland from an influential family. His world is changed forever when May's unconventional cousin Ellen arrives in New York City with scandal trailing behind her. At first Newland is horrified by the shockingly carefree countess, recently separated from her husband the count. As he attempts to talk Ellen out of divorce, Newland finds himself falling for the beautiful countess and begins to question the direction his life is taking.
