Overview
NASA discovers that a huge asteroid is on a crash course with earth. Total annihilation is imminent until they come up with a plan. A team of oil rig drillers will be sent into space to land on the rock and drill a very deep hole. A nuclear warhead will be dropped in the hole and will blow the asteroid apart. Time is of the essence, and NASA contacts Harry Stamper and his team of misfits to make it happen. Harry puts together two teams and NASA sends them off into space in the Freedom and the Independence. The fate of the world rests in the hands of roughnecks.
