Overview
Daniel E. Ruettiger, known as "Rudy," wants to play football for Notre Dame more than anything, but poor grades and a small stature force him to the steel plant along with his dad and brothers. When his best friend is killed in an accident at the plant, Rudy knows the time is right to pursue his dream, even if his dad disagrees. Rudy enrolls at Holy Cross Junior College to improve his grades and gain access to Notre Dame. When he manages to attend Notre Dame, his unrelenting drive and passion make up for his lack of size and earn him a spot on the football team. He toils on the bench for years until he finally gets the chance to play in an actual game.
