Franklin, a ticket scalper and hustler, is brought to the attention of the police when he appears with on television with Russell, a news reporter. Franklin is then arrested and finds himself handcuffed to a European jewel thief while being transported in a police vehicle. The jewel thief's associates arrange to cause the vehicle to explode, facilitating his and Franklin's escape. Franklin is now wanted as a cop killer. He approaches Russel with a plan to clear his name. Russell, who was fired from his job, managed to get his job back and attempts to hide Franklin until the upcoming Sweeps Week in the interest of presenting his story exclusively and boosting his sagging TV career. |
