Overview
Charlie Lang is an honest, decent man, who can't even consider stiffing a waitress on a tip. With a lack of cash, he tells waitress Yvonne Biasi that for a tip, she's entitled to half of whatever winnings might occur from the lottery ticket in his hand. When Charlie ends up winning the lottery that night, he and his wife Muriel celebrate until Charlie remembers his promise to Yvonne. Muriel thinks he's crazy to even contemplate keeping his promise, but Charlie is a man of his word. He walks into the diner the next day and shares the news with Yvonne, creating a media spectacle that lands him on the front page of the paper, initiating a relationship with her and severing the tenuous relationship with Muriel all in the process.
