To help out financially, she takes in Ted as a boarder. He becomes a father figure to Bobby. With his remarkable psychic powers, Ted is able to read Bobby's mind that he wants a bicycle, so he pays Bobby a dollar every day to read the paper to him. Ted asks Bobby to keep an eye out for the mysterious "low men," who want to capture Ted. Bobby has a series of summer-time adventures with his pals Sully and Carol before Liz calls in a tip and has Ted arrested.
