Overview
Alice Lamb is a reclusive writer living in a seaside cottage near the British city of Kent. When London becomes unsafe at the onset of World War II and German bombing raids, she is sent a young boy for whom she agreed to shelter through a program she forgot she had signed up for. Now she has no interest in caring for young Frank. Her plan is to get rid of him. Instead, the charming and intelligent boy grows on her as a bond begins to form. She opens her heart to Frank, telling him about a woman she once loved.
