Jean Seberg, a Midwest American actress, made a name for herself in the entertainment industry after a breakout starring role in the 1960 film Breathless. Soon after, she became a French New Wave icon.
Seberg should have known only a life of fun and luxury, but instead her support of the civil rights movement drew the attention of Hoover's FBI. Her entanglement with a Black Panther activist named Hakim Jamal resulted in a planned effort by the FBI to ruin her name and life.
