Judge Fiona Maye of the High Court of Justice in England finds herself at a crossroads: Her husband, Jack, loves her dearly. Yet, he wants to have an open affair with a work colleague. Fiona's career takes up all of her time and leaves no room for her to maintain her personal relationships.
At court, Fiona finds herself faced with a terrible decision related to a 17-year-old boy, Adam Henry, who has leukemia. His parents are Jehovah's Witnesses. They refuse to allow the hospital to perform a blood transfusion that could save Adam's life. It's up to Fiona to respect their religious beliefs or choose the recommendation of the hospital's expert staff.
After she visits Adam, she makes a choice that leaves a lasting impact on her professional and personal lives.
