Fred is a middle-aged man whose marriage has brought him nothing but unhappiness. One morning, he turns up on the doorstep of the much younger Velvet, insisting that he is ready to make a life with her. She has not seen him in four years, and she does not give him the warm welcome that he would have hoped to receive. As his regard for her hardens into a persistence that borders on the stalkerish, a dark past between him and his former mistress begins to be revealed. Their relationship was not all sweetness and light, and a lot of ugliness is going to have to come out before either of them can think about starting a new life together, free of their past mistakes. |
