Sidney is a playwright who has been in a long writing slump. He hasn’t produced a decent script in years, and now he is making ends meet by teaching writing seminars. To add insult to injury, one of Sidney’s writing students, Clifford Anderson, has just sent Sidney a play script that is absolutely brilliant. When Sidney reads it, he realizes that the play, “Deathtrap,” is a masterpiece that will be a massive hit. In desperation, Sidney cooks up a scheme to take credit for the creation of the script. Along with his girlfriend Myra, Sidney will lure to Clifford to a dinner to celebrate the script at his home. When they get him there, they will kill Clifford and sell the script as an original play written by Sidney. However, when Clifford shows up for the dinner, weird things begin to happen that makes them think that everything is not as it seems. In fact, it may be that Clifford is the one who is plotting against Sidney and Myra instead of the other way around.
