The recording studios at Sound City became legendary for the music that they recorded and the equipment they used. The greatest names in rock, R&B, and blues went through the Sound City doors to record some of the most iconic music in history. As digital recording started to find its way into the music business, Sound City was soon relegated to a dinosaur of the past. A team of engineers and musicians decided to salvage the huge mixing board that made Sound City famous, and install it into a new studio as the old Sound City studios were getting torn down. The idea was to bring together a group of new and old musicians to record on the old equipment and share memories of Sound City. What wound up happening was a documentary on the state of the music industry today.
