Overview
In 1849, several policemen uncover a murdered woman in her apartment. It was locked from the inside. There is another corpse in the chimney, the young daughter of the woman. The authorities realize that the murders resemble fictional ones from a story by Edgar Allan Poe called "The Murders in the Rue Morgue". Soon, the author himself is brought in for questioning. When it becomes clear that the murderer is copying his stories, he gets involved in the investigation himself.
