A woman is in conflict with her faith in God and her trust in fellow community members. Having lost her baby brother as a young girl and watching her parent's marriage disintegrate, Corinne later meets Ethan. They get married and travel with his rock band. After almost losing their daughter in a bus crash, Corinne and Ethan join a zealous religious community. Corinne and Ethan try to fit into their new community; participating in relentless bible studies, preparing for the end of the world and enduring marriage advice from neighbors. When her best friend, Annika, is diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor, Corinne turns to prayer. Annika undergoes delicate and dangerous brain surgery and survives with a price: she is now mute and wheelchair bound. Corinne tries to reconcile with how her prayers were answered. |
