Maria Anna Mozart, known as Nannerl, is in a unique position in 1760s Europe. She is a 14-year old musical genius under the guidance of her father, Leopold, but she isn't the only prodigy in the family. Because of her sex, she is limited to accompanying her younger brother, Wolfgang, on the harpsichord as he dazzles the elite with his talents. Nannerl wants to be a composer, but she's a victim of her male dominated world and forced by Leopold to take a backseat to Wolfgang. While in France, Nannerl develops a friendship with Princess Louise of France and her brother, Louis. As the friendship between Nannerl and the Princess grows, they wonder how different their lives would be if they were born as boys.
