Trailer  | Overview The magnificently wealthy newspaper tycoon, Charles Foster Kane, has died at his palatial home Xanadu. A journalist named Jerry sets out to discover all he can about Kane’s life, and tries to uncover the significance of Kane’s mysterious last word, “rosebud.” Through talking to Kane’s alcoholic ex-wife, butler, business manager and others, Thompson begins to piece together the astonishing story of Kane’s rise from poverty to enormous wealth. He sees how Kane’s success in sensationalist journalism assured him of continued wealth but never brought him happiness. He never discovers that the elusive word “rosebud” referred to a sled that Kane owned when he was just a little boy, a period of his life that he looked back on with nostalgia. |
