Overview
Bethany Hamilton is a happy teenager who loves competitive surfing more than anything. But during a swim with her friends, her right arm is unexpectedly bitten off by a shark. Bethany's body heals from the pain but she is devastated by her handicap and tries to adjust to normal life. She attempts surfing again but gets discouraged. Struggling to gain perspective, she joins her church on a missions trip and is changed by what she sees. With renewed determination she gets back up on her surfboard and practices until she is as good as ever. Entering her first competition since the accident, she comes in second place rather than first due to a technicality but proves to herself and those watching that, with God, family and friend, she can do anything.
